Six Sigma Healthcare Institute of Mountain Medicines and High-Altitude Rescue to be set up in Himachal

Shimla / Delhi : The Himachal Pradesh state government on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to invest Rs 100 crore in Six Sigma Healthcare to set up Asia’s First Mountain Institute in Shimla district and Chudhdhar areas. Six Sigma Healthcare is a super specialized Mountain Medicines team, who is trained by the Armed Forces on India and since 2009 Six Sigma provides free high altitude medical services in all pilgrimage like Amarnath, Kailash Mansarover, Kedarnath, Manimahesh & Disasters like Uttrakhand Flood, Nepal Earthquake.

The MoU was signed in presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Addl Chief Secretary R.N Batta, Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi, Six Sigma Healthcare CEO Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj, Six Sigma Board Member Major General Atul Kaushik, Medical Director Dr Anita Bhardwaj & Dr R.C Sharma, Director Medical Education of Himachal Pardesh Secretariat, Shimla.

In the meeting the proposal for setting up the institute was given by the Chief Executive Officer of Six Sigma, Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj & Board Member of Six Sigma Major General Atul Kaushik, Souvik Chandra Dutta. The CM accepted the proposal and said that the government will provide support in the purchase of the land for the institute in Shimla & Shirmor district. He appreciated the team of Six Sigma health care for providing healthcare facility in Kailash Manimahesh Yatra. The CM added that the state government is committed to provide quality health services in the mountainous areas and pilgrimage.

On the occasion, Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj, Prof RC Sharma, Major General Atul Kaushik, Dr Anita Bhardwaj the felicitated the Chief Minister of the state and wished him Birthday greetings too.

The medical director of the Six Sigma healthcare, Dr Pradeep Bharadwaj told that the institute once operational would provide jobs to 727 youths.

Dr Bhardwaj said that the objective of the institute  is to develop all type of research in Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Naturopathy and Yoga concerning High Altitude Mountains and to educate professionals in mountain medicines.

The institute would also train armed forces and para military personnel in Mountain Medicines and would offer courses in mountains medicines and high altitude rescue. It would also train local people, schools, colleges in high altitude rescue and disaster.  Dr Bhardwaj added that the institute would help in checking migration and provide employment opportunities for locals.  It would also provide consultancy to state and central government on key issues and help in promoting healthy lifestyle in mountains. Dr Bhardwaj claimed that the institute would be best of its kind in Asia  and it would provide necessary high altitude medical services to pilgrims and tourists. The proposed institute would also help in enchasing high altitude communications (HAM) and endeavor to develop better food product and beverages.
