Delhi: 6-day lockdown invokes huge crowd outside liquor shops, a woman says only alcohol will help combat Corona
New Delhi: The 6-day lockdown imposed by the Delhi govt today invoked large number of people to queue outside liquor shops in different regions of Delhi including Khan Market and Gole Market area.
Majority of these people were seen defying the social distancing norms outside the liquor shops in Delhi.
Standing outside one of these liquor shops, one elderly woman made a bizarre claim that no injection can help combat Corona, only alcohol can, as per news agency ANIs tweet.

On the other hand, Sudhir Mehta, CMD, Pinnacle Industries called this an insult to the healthcare workers who have been serving Covid patients. “Liquor store lines seen in Delhi today are longer than those at vaccination centres . Over a year into the pandemic, not finding a better way to do this is an affront to all our healthcare workers putting their lives on the line,” he said in a tweet.

Some even suggested to declare liquor as an essential commodity, so as to avoid such huge gathering outside liquor shops:
Why not let liquor stores also stay open, like grocery stores & other essentials? It'll also help the govt with its revenue collection and there won't be crowding. Better still – allow home delivery of liquor too. https://t.co/6dSao0kurA
