51st edition of IHGF-Delhi fair concludes, serious business enquiries worth Rs 225 crores generated
New Delhi – 23rd May’ 2021: The 51st edition of IHGF-Delhi fair, 2021 held on virtual platform, concluded today. It was the third virtual show in the series of IHGF Delhi Fair marking a continuation of new normal in exhibition industry to overcome the situation arisen due to outbreak of Covid pandemic when organising physical activity was not possible, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.
The fair ended with the distribution of Ajai Shankar Memorial awards for best virtual booth wherein Navneet Sehgal, Addl. Chief Secretary (MSME), Government of UP was the Chief Guest. In his address, Sehgal congratulated EPCH for initiating virtual fairs and providing a viable marketing platform during these difficult times to the exporters of Handicrafts. He was glad to know that the State of Uttar Pradesh has one of the largest participation of exhibitors with over 200 exhibitors displaying a wide range of gift, Decorative, houseware, lamps, lighting & festive decor and many items. He further noted that such a marketing platform compliments the One District One Product scheme of the Government of Uttar Pradesh as it helps to promote wide range of handicrafts items produced in various districts of the State to various parts of the world. He also congratulated the Ajai Shankar Memorial award winners wherein six were from the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Dr. Kumar further said that during the five days of the event it has been observed that since the pandemic has forced people indoors, demand for items like furniture, home furnishings, rugs, décor etc has gone up. Further, the pandemic situation has eased a little bit in the major countries of Europe and USA, so the overseas retailers are looking to replenish their stores and hence looking to source products from the fair.
Ravi K. Passi, Chairman – EPCH spoke about the 51st edition of IHGF-Delhi fair 2021 being first of its kind of virtual Trade fair for Handicraft Products organised by EPCH from 19th – 23rd May, 2021 spread over in 15 virtual halls and witnessing participation by around 700 manufacturers and exporters from the Country. The show was a success both in terms of exhibitor’s participation as well as buyers visit leading to generation of serious business enquiries worth Rs 225 crores. He further informed, the highlights of the fair remained craft demonstrations, webinars and thematic participation of crafts of Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern Region.
Approximately 2400 overseas buyers from 110 countries, buying representatives and domestic volume retail buyers visited the show on virtual platform to source home, lifestyle, fashion, furniture Buyers like 2XL Furniture & Home Décor, The Cotton Basket, Redtag from UAE, BARAK IMPORTACIONES S.A., from Argentina, Boyd Blue pty ltd, Florabelle Imports Pty Ltd, Bed Bath n Table from Australia, My Ocean Ltd, Bahamas, TJX, D.O.T. Furniture Ltd, Home Depot, Blue moon emporium, Creative Design Ltd, Frankly Scarlet Designs ltd. from Canada, MYRIS TRADE LTD from Czech Republic, Casablanca GmbH & Co. KG, Kangaroo KG, Crispe home & garden, Atlas GmbHfrom Germany, Zara Home from Spain, London Ornaments from United Kingdom, Tomo Corporation from Japan, Ashley Furniture Inc , Benzara Inc, ELK Home, Walmart, Homeroots from USA and many more visited the fair. Gold Award was given to M/s A. M. GLASS International, Firozabad and Silver Award was given to M/s Vasu Exports, Chennai.

In Lawn, Garden Ornaments and Accessories Category:
Gold Award was given to M/s Dwarka Art Exports Pvt. Ltd., Jodhpur and Silver Award was given to M/s Sanghavi Exports, Moradabad.

In Carpets, Rugs And Floorings Category:
Gold Award was given to M/s Kanchan Arts, Jaipur and Silver Award was given to M/s Extrugs, Panipat.
In Furniture, Furniture Hardware and Accessories category:

In Jammu & Kashmir Pavilion:
Gold Award was given to M/s Bangroo Arts, Srinagar and Silver Award was given to M/s Srinagar Collection, Srinagar.
The estimated figures for exports of handicrafts for the period April-March of the current financial year 2020-21 which stands at Rs. 25558.94 crores (USD 3443.45 million) registering a growth of 1.14 % (Rupee terms) and decline (-)3.39 % (dollar terms) over the same period last year.
