Around 1,000 Delhi Police personnel test Covid positive amid massive surge

New Delhi, January 10: Around 1000 Delhi Police personnel, including Public Relations Officer and Additional Commissioner Chinmoy Biswal have tested positive for COVID19.

Delhi Police on Monday said, ”Around 1000 Delhi Police personnel, including Public Relations Officer and Additional Commissioner Chinmoy Biswal have tested positive for COVID19. All infected personnel are under quarantine & will join duty after they fully recover.”

The overall strength of the Delhi Police is over 80,000.

Recently, a standard operating procedure (SOP) was issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana for preventing the spread of the coronavirus among police personnel.

As per the SOP, all police personnel should wear face-masks, maintain social distancing and practice proper hand hygiene while performing their duties.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded 22,751 new cases with daily positivity rate rising to 23.53% in the last 24 Hours. The active caseload in Delhi has reached to 60,733.
