Delhi Journalist Assaulted by Punjab Police During AAP’s Press Conference
New Delhi, 30 April 2022: The Delhi Police has filed a case against the Punjab police for allegedly assaulting a Delhi-based journalist in New Delhi, according to sources on Saturday.
The assault took place during a press conference by the Aam Aadmi Party at Imperial Hotel on 26 April.
The Delhi-based journalist, Naresh vats from Hindustan Post was denied entry at the press conference by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Even after showing the PIB identification, the journalist was rudely confronted, physically and verbally assaulted by the Punjab police.
The Journalist also alleged in his complaint that both the chief ministers did not take any action when they came to know of the assault. While the Press Associations such as Press Club of India and Chandigarh Press Club have sternly criticised the assault and has demanded the authorities to take strict action against the officials.
