New Delhi, 4 May 2022: Soon after BJP Delhi Chief called upon the Delhi government for the removal of loudspeakers from religious places, the AAP stated that it falls under the jurisdiction of the Delhi Police.
“The Aam Aadmi Party in principle agrees with the concept of repealing loudspeakers from every religious institution and centres of faith alike. The matter is subject to Delhi Police’s jurisdiction which comes under the BJP’s Central government. Thus, we urge the BJP to seek action on the same from the Delhi Police itself,” the Aam Aadmi Party said.
After supreme court’s verdict banning the use of loudspeakers in public places between 10 pm to 6 am, the BJP Delhi pressurised the state government to bring down loudspeakers from all the religious places. They also commented that temples prayers are only heard inside the temple premises. While the Uttar Pradesh government has taken down thousands of loudspeakers from religious institutions, why was the Delhi government taking time to follow the supreme court’s order, BJP questioned.
