New Delhi, June 30, 2022: On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts organized its 23rd Handicrafts Export Awards. The awards honor the exporters who have made significant contributions to the country’s development and exports of handicrafts.
Asian Handicrafts was one amongst those exporters who were awarded. It is a 45 years old company and is based in Gurgaon. It specializes in laces, embroidery, and beadwork.
Amit Malhotra, director of the company, claimed to be very happy with the achievement. “I am glad to receive this award. I would dedicate it to my family, who have always been very supportive, and my staff and employees, who have worked hard along with me and have always extended their support, because of their effort, we are in this position.”
“There are a lot of opportunities and challenges,” he said. “There are a lot of buyers who were not buying from India, now they want India in their buying metrics. Their business is moving away from China, and that is a good opportunity for Indian exporters,” he said regarding the opportunities in the industry.
“The challenge at this point is that the market scenario is very tough,” Mr. Malhotra said regarding the challenges in the industry. “There is a war going on and because of that, there are a lot of inflationary pressures. The raw material prices costs have become a challenge. The market is not doing really well but I am very confident that with all the hard work of the Indian exporters we will be able to do well,” he said.
“EPCH has been very supportive,” he said. “They have been playing a very supportive role over all these years. It starts with the exhibitions that they organize, which is a good platform for buyers and exporters to meet each other and present their products,” he said. “Whenever there is any challenge to the Indian companies, they give a representation to the government, making them aware of what the challenges are, what the need of the hour is. They have played a significant and important role in the promotion of the trend.”
“Sticking to the fundamentals is the mantra for success. Hard work, commitment, honesty, having faith in yourself, having faith in your product. Times can be uncertain, times can be great, so if it is a challenging time, just continue to put in the effort,” Mr. Malhotra shared.
