Congress to hold a historic rally at the Ramlila ground

NEW DELHI, August 23, 2022—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar held a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pradesh Congress at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today regarding the preparations for the Congress rally against price rise and unemployment, to be held at the Ramlila ground on September 4, 2022, with the slogan “Chale Ramlila Maidan”. Ch. Anil Kumar said that the meeting discussed the country-wide anguish against price rise and unemployment, as the Congress party has been protesting against price rise, unemployment and the anti-people policies of the Modi Government at every platform. A resolution was passed at the meeting against price rise and unemployment due to the anti-people policies by the Modi Government.

Besides Ch. Anil Kumar, others who attended the meeting were former Union Cabinet Ministers Jagdish Tytler and Krishna Tirath, Ex MPs Dr. Udit Raj, Ramesh Kumar and J.K. Jain, Delhi Govt. former ministers Dr. Narender Nath and Ramakant Goswami, Chairman of the Communications Department of the DPCC  and Ex MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj, DPCC Treasurer Sandeep Goswami, Ex-MLAs Vijay Lochav, Hari Shankar Gupta, Amrish Gautam, Veer Singh Dhingan and Darshana Ramakumar, DPMC President Amrrita Dhawan, DPCC vice presidents Mudit Agarwal and Ali Mehndi, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Communications Department. Vice-chairmen Shri Parvez Alam and Shri Anuj Attrey.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that all the top leaders of the Congress, including Shri Rahul Gandhi, MPs, top leaders and office-bearers of the party from all over the country, will join thousands of Congress workers in the rally. He said that Delhi Congress has been holding Chaupal meetings to discuss price rise and unemployment for the preparation of the rally, and pamphlets detailing the anti-people actions and corruption of the Modi Government were being distributed in the markets, homes and public places to create awareness among the people at the manner in which they were being fooled ride with false promises by the BJP.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party had joined hands to make Delhi “Nashe Ki Rajdhani” by taking thousands crores in kickbacks, to hand over the liquor trade to liquor cartels, and allow them to open shops even in non-confirming areas. He said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Excise Minister Manish Sisodia were responsible for loss to the tune of  thousands of crore to the exchequer due to the liquor scam. He said that Rs 144 crore relief was given to the licensees in the licence fees in violation of rules, Rs 3000 crore loss in excise duty and  Rs 3500 crore revenue loss to Delhi Government due to Kejriwal’s underhand deals to implement the new  Liquor Policy.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the local Congress workers and leaders have been getting tremendous response from the common people as they were  all  fed up with price rise and unemployment, and have been struggling to manage their daily existence. He said that the Modi Government has been making hollow promises in the past eight years on employment generation and improving the living standards of the  common people, who are still struggling to come out of the ravages inflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the anti-people policies of the Modi Government. He said that 80 per cent of the population in the country have been battling an existential crisis, as lack of jobs and economic crisis, have turned their lives into a living hell.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress party, under the leadership of Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhi, have been raising the people’s voice against price rise and unemployment, and they have been standing solidly behind the people in these challenging and hard days with firm resolve. He said that the Congress leaders have been raising the issues affecting the people inside and outside Parliament, and every available forum. He said that the common people were terribly impacted by frequent hikes in the prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, kerosene, all essential goods and services, and imposing GST virtually on every item of daily use, but the Modi Government was unfazed by  people’s plight.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that while common people were struggling to cope with price rise and unemployment, the Modi Government has been making the rich richer by offering various concessions and facilities to them. He said that the assets of the country, painstakingly built over the years by successive  Congress Governments, were being handed over to a few chosen friends of Modi and the BJP on a platter, to destroy the country’s legacy. He said that due to the Modi Government’s anti-youth policies, unemployment has now risen to the worst ever level, He said that Modi had promised to provide 2 crore jobs, but he has not even filled the  over 10 lakh jobs lying vacant in various Ministries of the Central Government. He said that 42 per cent educated youth in the 20-24 age group are now unemployed, and in the past few years, 14 crore people have been rendered jobless. He said that the Congress has been protesting against this, and the Ramlila ground rally will focus on these pressing issues, to take the party’s fight against the anti-people policies of the Modi Government to the next level.
