Gujurat August 28th,2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening inaugurated the pedestrian-only ‘Atal Bridge’ over the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad.
He also paid an impromptu visit to the bridge at night.
The pedestrians-and-cyclists-only bridge with eye-catching design and LED lighting is 300 meters long and 14 meters wide in the middle.
It connects the flower garden on the western end of the Sabarmati Riverfront and the upcoming arts and culture center on the eastern end.
According to a release, the bridge is designed in such a way that people can approach it from both lower and upper walkways or promenades of the riverfront.
Modi is on a two-day visit to his home state during which the inauguration was held.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter and shared pictures of the bridge, “Doesn’t the Atal Bridge look spectacular!” he wrote.
