NEW DELHI, September 1, 2022—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should be given a PhD in telling lies, as he only said lies and indulged in falsehood in  the five days of the Special Session of the Assembly,  to give “clean chit” to his corrupt Ministers. He said that the five days of deliberations in  the Assembly were an exercise in gimmickry and futility, as neither Kejriwal, nor his Deputy, Excise and Education Minister Manish Sisodia, replied to  the serious charges of corruption they are facing in the liquor policy and class-room renovation scams.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Congress had filed a complaint with the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Lt. Governor about the irregularities and corruption in the implementation of the liquor policy, and the cost inflation in the renovation of class rooms in Government schools, and Congress has not given any “clean chit” to Kejriwal or Sisodia. Instead, Delhi Congress had sought a CBI probe into the scams, which the Lt. Governor has ordered now, to corner Excise and Education Minister Manish Sisodia.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal misused the Assembly sessions to divert attention from corruption to discuss frivolous matters to save his skin, at enormous cost to the exchequer. He said that on Delhi Congress’ complaint, a CBI probe has ordered into the Rs 4288 crore purchase and renovation contract scam of DTC buses. He said that Kejriwal has not taken any action against former Ministers Jitender Tomar, Sandeep Kumar, Asim Ahmed Khan and Satyender Jainm (who is in jail now, but continues to be a Minister), for featuring in various corruption cases and scandals, while 38 AAP MLAs face over 100 cases on various matters.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that BJP was  party to AAP’s corrupt deeds as they also got a share in the commission of the liquor scam, and joined hands with Kejriwal in disrupting the Assembly sessions to divert attention from the corruption issue at hand, so that a discussion on it could be skipped.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Sisodia was trying to put up a brave face to show that the CBI raids at his residence and bank lockers did not find anything incriminating, though CBI has not given him a  clean chit, and the fear of going to jail was haunting Sisodia. He said that Sisodia  has been driven to a corner by Kejriwal, who cleverly kept himself away from signing on files related to the liquor policy scam and the class-room renovation scam, which was objected to even by the PWD.
