Britain, Sept 9th, 2022: Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned over Britain for 70 glorious years passed away on Sept 8th at her estate in Balmoral, Scotland.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, she died peacefully on Thursday afternoon and was surrounded by her loved ones.

Her son King Charles III said the death of his beloved mother was a “moment of great sadness” for him and his family and that her loss would be “deeply felt” around the world.

King Charles III, at age 73, will now ascend the throne and is likely to address the nation today.

According to reports, the Queen’s health was deteriorating over the past few days, and was kept under medical supervision.

In September 2015, Queen Elizabeth II surpassed her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, who reigned for 63 years and seven months.

In 2016, Elizabeth also became the longest-reigning monarch in the world with the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.

Ascending the throne in 1952, Elizabeth led the UK through a time of political upheaval.
She was best known for her moral support to the British people during WWII and her longevity.

Elizabeth will be laid to rest in the King George VI Memorial Chapel within St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom.

The union flag on top of Buckingham Palace was lowered to half-mast on Thursday evening and an official notice announcing the death was posted outside.

A state funeral for the Queen is expected in the next two weeks.
