Maharashtra, Sept 19th, 2022: In a veiled swipe at Eknath Shinde, former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said that he and his followers were the “original” Shiv Sena, born out of decades of social work.
Addressing the party functionaries at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai, Thackeray said that Sena cannot be “snatched away or purchased”.
“We are the original party born out of decades of social work spanning four generations,” he said.
The Shiv Sena leader further stated that the attempts made in the past to weaken Shiv Sena by engineering splits and defections had failed and wouldn’t succeed even now.
In recent news, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Eknath Shinde are brawling over the Dusshera rally organized in Shivaji Park of Mumbai every year.
Both factions led by Thackeray and Shinde have filed an application to the Mumbai civic body for the rally rights.
Neither of the two has been given permission yet.
Both factions are also locked in a legal battle in the Supreme Court over a host of issues, including the disqualification of rebel legislators and various appointments made by the rebel camp.
