New Delhi, 25 September 2022: Delhi government has announced that self-defense lessons will be provided to female school teachers. The course will be held at Thyagaraj Stadium from October 10 to 22.
During the 10-day course, the teachers will learn self-defense, conflict avoidance, and de-escalation tactics, according to the officials.
One teacher from each government school in Delhi who is physically fit and healthy must apply for the program. This teacher will eventually instruct other female staff members in self-defense and de-escalation tactics.
“Delhi Police personnel (females) have been requested to impart training to the teachers in advanced self-defense techniques. Participants who attend the programme will further act as master trainers to all the female staff members in their respective schools,” stated a government official.
Additionally, it has been mandated for all zone supervisors of physical education (SPEs) to compile a list of participants in their respective zones (one teacher from each zone) and submit it to the directorate of education. It is also directed that the smooth operation of the program is to be ensured by all the SPEs on duty at the stadium.
