Gujarat Congress MLA Quits Party Ahead of Polls, 3rd MLA to Quit in 2 Days

National, Nov 10, 2022: Congress party MLA and tribal leader Mohansinh Rathva, a ten-time MLA of the party, resigned and moved to the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday.
Earlier, Bhagvanbhai D Barad, Congress MLA from Gujarat’s Talala constituency, had tendered his resignation from all posts of the INC to Speaker Nimaben Acharya.
Barad said that he had taken the decision after due consultation with his supporters. He is set to join the BJP.
The jolt hit Congress party weeks ahead of Gujarat assembly elections.
Assembly elections in the state are set to take place on December 1 and 5. The votes for the same will be counted on December 8.
