New Delhi, Nov 30, 2022: As Delhi prepares for the upcoming MCD polls, former Indian cricketer and BJP MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir, today took a jab at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying: “Please ask Arvind Kejriwal what happened to his promise of turning Delhi into a London, Paris or New York?”
Speaking to a media house during his party’s campaign for the forthcoming MCD elections, the BJP parliamentarian alleged that it is not him but the Delhi Chief Minister who has not been addressing issues of governance.
The BJP MP further added that for the last eight years, AAP has only been making false promises to the people of Delhi. “We are reaching out to the people, trying to make them aware of the fact that they have been cheated for eight years,” he stated.
When inquired about the Ghazipur landfill, which has become a major issue in the MCD elections, Gambhir said, “I’d like to request you and your crew to visit the Ghazipur landfill, see for yourself what the ground reality is and report the truth. Let the people of Delhi know the truth.”
Attending a press conference, BJP MP Gautam Gambhir had noted, “BJP has not been in power in Delhi for 23 years. But even before that, when the Congress was in power in Delhi, there was development work. I have never seen anything like the way Delhi has deteriorated in the last 8 years. I have been in Delhi for 41 years.” He added, “It takes a lot of guts for a BJP MP to say that there was development work here during the Congress regime. And what is happening here in the last 8 years is nothing but vote bank politics.”
Yuva Congress National President Srinivas BV also posted a video of Gambhir on Twitter wherein he praises the Congress rule in Delhi.
