New Delhi, Dec 17, 2022: Central Bureau of Investigation has moved an application to the Supreme Court to challenge the bail granted to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh by the High Court. Following the bail order, the CBI has gone ahead and filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted by the High Court to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

On December 12, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Anil Deshmukh on a personal bond of one lakh. Also, the High Court had granted 10 days time to CBI to appeal against the bail order.

In November, the bail plea of Anil Deshmukh was rejected by a special court in Mumbai. Challenging this decision of the lower court, he then filed a petition before the Mumbai High Court. The Bombay High Court in its order given on December 12 had stayed the execution of the bail order for 10 days after granting bail to Deshmukh. It was done so that the CBI can meanwhile move the Supreme Court against it.
