Gurgaon (Haryana), 20th April 2023: Most of the Blinkit outlets of the rapid commerce company have resumed business, according to a regulatory filing by Zomato, days after being impacted by a delivery partner strike.
The platform’s operations were recently hampered by a recent strike by the delivery partners demanding an increase in payouts per order.
Zomato said in a filing on Wednesday, “We had to shut down some stores for a few days to ensure the safety of our employees at stores and the delivery partners. Most of these stores have now resumed operations.”
They added, “Over the last few days we have made changes in the delivery partner payout structure with respect to the Blinkit business to address the needs of delivery partners, improve customer experience and reduce cancellation/order rejection, frauds by few delivery partners in the system. Such changes are done from time to time, as needed.”
It did not, however, specify the extent of the payout reductions to the delivery partners, although sources indicate that they have decreased to $15 per transaction with a distance-based charge component from a peak of $50 per order in 2017 and a subsequent reduction to $25 last year.
