Delivery worker beaten to death in Delhi over road rage, two arrested

New Delhi (India), April 24, 2023: In a tragic incident of road rage, a 39-year-old delivery worker lost his life after being brutally beaten in the Ranjeet Nagar area of Delhi on Saturday night. Pankaj Thakur was allegedly attacked by two young men, Manish Kumar (19) and Lalchand (20), following an argument over letting a car pass through a narrow street.

Upon discovery, Thakur was found unconscious in an alley near Ranjeet Nagar Main Market with several injury marks on his body. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Thakur’s scooter was found lying next to him, and he was identified by the documents he was carrying. He leaves behind his wife, son, and daughter.

The police reviewed CCTV footage in the area, which revealed two men getting out of a cab and assaulting Thakur until he collapsed to the ground. The cab was traced, and the two accused, Manish and Lalchand, were identified and later arrested.

The accused told the police that they were driving through the alley when they found Thakur blocking their way with his scooter. An argument ensued, leading to a fight during which Thakur collapsed. The accused then fled the spot.

Further investigations are ongoing, and the police have seized the vehicle involved.
