New Delhi (India), April 27, 2023: In a terrifying incident that could have resulted in a hostage crisis, a gunman was apprehended by the police in West Bengal’s Malda district on Wednesday. The quick and decisive action of the police prevented the situation from spiraling out of control.
The man had entered a classroom full of children and threatened to hold them hostage at gunpoint. However, before he could carry out his threat, the police arrived and tackled him to the ground, taking control of the situation.
Azhar Uddin, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law and Order), was the hero of the hour, fearlessly confronting the armed man and subduing him with his quick thinking and decisive action. The children were safely evacuated from the classroom, unharmed and unscathed.
However, the incident has raised questions about the state of law and order in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that there was a conspiracy at play, with Delhi being involved. She stated that wherever there is an opposition party state, there is an attempt to disturb the peace.
Meanwhile, the opposition has seized upon the incident to criticize the ruling party’s handling of law and order. West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar expressed alarm at the situation, stating that such incidents were once unheard of in the state.
