Tarak Mehta Actress Accuses Producer of Sexual Assault, Quits Show

Mumbai (India), 11th May 2023: In a shocking development, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, one of India’s most cherished Network programs, on Thursday made headlines for the wrong reasons.

Actress Jennifer Mistry who has worked on the hit TV programme for almost 15 years has made serious accusations against some of the creators.

She has filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment against ‘TMKOC’ producer Asit Kumarr Modi, project director Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj.

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who plays the role of Mrs Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) has made these allegations. She said, “I had to leave the sets as I was subjected to humiliation and insult at the hands of Mr Sohil Ramani and the other executive producer Jatin Bajaj.”

According to reports, the situation got worse on Holi when the actress requested a two-hour break because it was her anniversary. Due to a hectic work schedule, she was unable to spend the day with her family as she had hoped. However, her request for a two-hour break was denied.

The complainant referred to the “TMKOC” as a “male-chauvinistic place” and claimed that the accused trio consistently preferred male performers.

Further elaborating on her allegations the complainant cited instances from the past that she was asked to quit the show when it was discovered she was pregnant. Additionally, she said that Ramani frequently withheld one-half of a day’s pay. She was quoted by ETimes TV as claiming, “There has been ongoing sexual harassment.”

She said, “There have been multiple incidents when he has tried to flirt with me and have made sexual advances. When we were shooting in Singapore, it was my marriage anniversary and at night, he told me, “Now, your marriage anniversary is over, so koi guilt nahi rahega aajao mere room mein dono whiskey peete hain…” He has made sexual comments so many times. ”

She further said, “Once, he was openly making comments and flirting with me and one of my co-actors handled the situation for me. There was also one incident when he called me ‘sexy’ and pulled my cheeks. Asit Modi has made sexual advances towards me many times in the past. Initially, I ignored all his statements because of fear of losing out on work.”

Jennifer also said that she has sent a complaint mail to authorities a month back but they have not yet responded.
