New Delhi, 16th May 2023: The LG Secretariat returned the files related to the Services matters to the Delhi government authorities.
The action came in light of last week’s Supreme Court decision placing back the legislative powers in the hands of the government. The court had mandated that the elected administration in Delhi has legislative and executive powers over matters pertaining to the services department, except for those related to land, police, and public order, which remain under the jurisdiction of the lieutenant governor.
The files include requests for extension of the contractual duration of personnel in various Delhi Government Hospitals and acceptance of the resignation of a Group ‘A’ staff of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital. These were forwarded to the LG for approval.
‘These have been returned with the observation that the departments may be advised to take appropriate action/further necessary action, in light of the judgment of CB (Constitution Bench) in Supreme Court on May 11,’ read the order.
