Aishwarya Rai stuns fans with ‘hoodie couture” appearance at Cannes

Cannes (France), 19th May 2023: Marking her 21st appearance on the Cannes red carpet on Thursday evening, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan left watchers stunned with her choice of clothes.

Sophie Couture designed her gorgeous silver gown, which was embellished with glittering aluminium sequins and crystals. The garment included a wide hood that covered her head and was finished with a massive black bow.

Some called it “hoodie couture,” while her fans gushed over the dress and Aishwarya called her the, “Queen of Cannes.”

However at the same time, some compared the costume to the alien Jaadu from the film ‘Koi… Mil Gaya,’ while others felt it looked like a shawarma roll or ice cream delivery box. People uploaded amusing photos online, such as a packed ice cream next to a photo of Aishwarya in the silver gown.

While on the French Riviera, she was photographed with a green sequined gown with a cape design by Valentino, in addition to her silver gown.

She previously appeared in a gold mermaid gown by Roberto Cavalli, accessorised with coral lips and immaculate hair, or as the personification of Cinderella, and her look last year was clearly inspired by Renaissance painter Botticelli’s ageless masterpiece, The Birth of Venus.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan first visited the Cannes Film Festival in 2002, and she has been known ever since for her extraordinary design selections at the prestigious festival.
