Mumbai (India), 20th May 2023: Former Narcotics Control Bureau Mumbai Zone Head Sameer Wankhede arrived at the CBI headquarters in Mumbai on Saturday to undergo questioning in the Rs 25 crore alleged bribery case involving Aryan Khan’s arrest.
On Friday, the Bombay High Court directed the CBI not to pursue any coercive action against Wankhede, which means he cannot be detained today. Wankhede is accused of demanding Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan after his son Aryan Khan was apprehended on a vacation in October 2021.
Before the Bombay high court on Friday, Sameer Wankhede showed conversations with Shah Rukh Khan in which Shah Rukh lauded Wankhede’s sincerity while requesting Wankhede to be kind to his son Aryan.
In an NCB vigilance investigation, Sameer Wankhede has been accused of many allegations. There was no match between his income and expenses, and he underreported his overseas travel expenses, struck a dubious deal over a precious watch and demanded a payment of Rs. 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan not to bring charges against Aryan Khan.
The bribe was paid through KP Gosavi, who was given free reign in the Aryan Khan case and made to appear to be an NCB insider.
Sameer Wankhede denied the claims, claiming that the CBI only charged him because he complained about NCB deputy director Gyaneshwar Singh’s casteist remarks.
