Imphal, 16th June 2023: A crowd set fire to Union Minister RK Ranjan Singh’s home in Manipur’s Imphal, while an undefined number of people were injured when armed men stormed a village in Kuki-dominated Churachandpur district on Thursday night.

The arson incident occurred amid ongoing ethnic strife in Manipur, only days after a crowd invaded Singh’s home on May 23 before security personnel dispersed the attackers by firing in the air.

According to officials, some vehicles parked outside the house were also damaged, but no one was harmed in the arson attack, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Thursday. Firefighters and security personnel rushed to the site, dousing the flames and dispersing the mob of approximately 50 people.

The attack on Singh’s home was the latest in a string of attacks on politicians’ homes. Unidentified assailants set fire to Manipur minister Nemcha Kipgen’s official apartment on Wednesday when she was absent. The incident caused no injuries.
