20-Year-Old College Student Raped by Man Posing as Policeman in Delhi

New Delhi, July 13, 2023: In a horrifying incident that has shocked the nation, a 20-year-old college student was raped near her apartment in Delhi by a man who deceitfully presented himself as a policeman and threatened her with an explicit video. The accused, identified as Ravi Solanki, was apprehended by the police on Thursday, bringing a sense of relief to the victim and her loved ones.

According to reports, Solanki allegedly recorded a mobile phone video of the young woman and her boyfriend on July 7. Subsequently, he followed their car on his bike and patiently awaited the moment when her boyfriend dropped her off outside her apartment in Prashant Vihar.

Taking advantage of the situation, Solanki entered the apartment building and encountered the woman on the stairs. Posing as a policeman, he purportedly exhibited the video to her and threatened to share it online. In a chilling turn of events, he then launched a brutal attack, sexually assaulting her on the spot before fleeing the scene, as stated by the police.

Distressed and traumatized, the victim confided in her boyfriend, and the couple promptly reported the heinous crime to the police. Given that the attacker was unknown to the woman, the authorities initially deemed it a “blind case,” intensifying their efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice.

With the aid of the woman’s description and crucial CCTV footage, the police were able to piece together vital evidence, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Ravi Solanki.
