US Singer Mary Millben Voices Support for PM Modi on Manipur Issue, Praises Leadership

New Delhi, August 11, 2023: Renowned American singer Mary Millben, who previously thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing the “inhuman behavior against women” in Manipur, has once again expressed her support.

Millben, who touched Modi’s feet during his historic state visit to the US in June, stated on X (formerly Twitter), “The truth: India has confidence in its leader. The mothers, daughters, and women of #Manipur, India will receive justice. And #PMModi will always fight for your freedom.”

In a veiled reference to the Opposition, Millben criticized associating with a party that disregards cultural heritage and undermines the anthem, calling it “unprincipled.” She emphasized the power of truth and quoted Martin Luther King Jr., saying, “Let Freedom Ring,” urging India to embrace truth.

Millben’s earlier message in July commended PM Modi for addressing the issue of violence against women in Manipur. She expressed grief for the victims and thanked the Prime Minister for raising awareness.

During the no-confidence motion debate, PM Modi’s firm stance against the Opposition garnered praise. The motion was ultimately defeated, with Modi expressing gratitude for the nation’s trust.
