New Delhi, August 19, 2023: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal took aim at the Congress-led state government in Chhattisgarh during his campaign in the poll-bound region. Kejriwal criticized the ‘terrible’ state of government schools in the state, where his own AAP is an ally of the ruling Congress party.

Addressing an election rally in Raipur, Kejriwal expressed concern over the condition of government schools in Chhattisgarh. He highlighted the closure of many schools and the lack of adequate teachers, pointing out that some schools had only one teacher for ten classes.

“Many teachers have not received their salaries for months… teachers are being made to do everything except teaching,” Kejriwal remarked, earning applause from the audience.

Comparing the situation with Delhi’s government schools, Kejriwal emphasized the stark difference. He praised the improvement in Delhi’s government schools under his leadership and the emphasis his government placed on education.

“Today, students in Delhi’s government schools are performing way better than those in private institutes,” Kejriwal proclaimed, highlighting the achievements of his tenure.

Kejriwal’s criticism of the Congress-led government’s handling of education in Chhattisgarh comes amid ongoing tensions between the two parties. The Congress and AAP have been engaged in discussions about seat sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Despite their strained relationship, both parties are part of the newly-formed I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) opposition group, aimed at challenging the ruling BJP in the 2024 general elections.

Kejriwal’s rally in Chhattisgarh underscores his party’s commitment to improving education and its readiness to hold its allies accountable for governance issues in the states they administer.
