Shikhar’s 11th National CSR Summit 2023 Champions Women’s Empowerment and Sustainable Development

New Delhi, 24th Nov 2023: Shikhar Organization for Social Development, in collaboration with the UN Global Compact Network India, orchestrated the 11th National CSR Summit 2023 on Thursday. With the theme “Catalyzing Positive Change: CSR-Led Women Empowerment for Sustainable Development,” the event unfolded at the prestigious India International Centre. Under the dynamic guidance of Shikhar CEO Nadeem Akhtar and his team. Corporate leaders, CSR professionals, active NGOs, and the media actively engaged in thought-provoking discussions addressing key challenges and solutions in this realm.

In the inaugural session, Dr. RK Suri, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jamia Millia Islamia, and Director of the Summit, eloquently delved into the theme. Entrepreneur Amrit Kaur, a special guest, emphasized women empowerment, urging all women to persevere. During the inaugural address, Abdul Kalam emphasized the crucial role of awareness in women empowerment and social development, highlighting the transformative power of knowledge sharing.

Thematic sessions followed suit, with the first focusing on women empowerment and inclusivity. Distinguished speakers like Kanak Tiwari, Program Director at the Urban Strategy Unit , NIUA, and Ms. Swati Sahai, Head of Corporate Affairs at HCL Tech, shared insights.

The second session delved into Sustainability and Environment Stewardship, featuring notable speakers like Prof (Dr) RK Suri, Anoop Gupta of Former Program Director GAIL India, Col. Prakash Tiwari from MOEF, Preeti Srivastava of Reliance Industries, Arun Arora of Chetak Group, and Anupam Nidhi from Hindustan Zinc Limited.

The valedictory and National CSR Award 2023 session hosted Chief Guest Robin Hibu, IPS, Special Commissioner, Delhi Police, and Guest of Honor Aman Preet, IRS, Joint Commissioner-Income Tax. Robin Hibu, in a compelling statement, urged CSR activities for marginalized people, particularly in the North Eastern regions, emphasizing their integral role in nation-building. He mentioned about the struggles of the people living in the North Eastern areas and also talked about their contribution in nation building and independence of the nation. He also talked about implementing the initiatives made by him at the grassroots level and also talked about organizing the 12th edition of National CSR Summit in the North Eastern areas. Summit decided to document and prepare a handbook on active / deserving NGOs and their activities. The summit also decided to organise 12th National CSR Summit at North East as proposed by Robin Hibu, Icon of social service from NE.

Aditya Ghildiyal, General Manager of CNH New Holland Tractor and Vice President of Shikhar, expressed gratitude during the vote of thanks, closing the inaugural session on a high note.
