Farmers protest ‘toll plan’ on Noida Expressway

Hundreds of farmers on Friday staged a protest in front of the Noida Authority office in Sector 6 against the proposed imposition of toll tax on the 24.5 km Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, leading to huge traffic disruption in the area for about an hour, despite the authorities denying any such plan on Thursday.

Shouting anti-government slogans, the farmers threatened to take to the streets if toll tax was imposed by the UP government, even in the future, on the expressway, which is a lifeline of the two cities, Noida and Greater Noida.
