New Delhi (16 December 2024): A round table discussion on the “Role of the Private Sector in Transforming Higher Education in India” and a felicitation program for educational entrepreneurs elected as Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies was held at The Park Hotel, New Delhi, on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The event began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting and Saraswati Vandana, followed by a welcome address by Shri P. Palanivel, Secretary General, EPSI. Dr. M.R. Jayaram, President, EPSI, and Chancellor of Ramaiah University, also addressed the gathering. Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation, emphasized the need for collaboration in education, stating, “When all stakeholders work together, our students will gain a better platform.”
Discussions highlighted the role of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), inter-institutional MoUs, and the adoption of emerging technologies like AI, VR, and the metaverse. Speakers also addressed the growing reliance of students on platforms like Google, YouTube, and ChatGPT. “These technologies were created by those taught by teachers, whose importance cannot be replaced,” a speaker noted.
The panel underscored the significance of NEP 2020 in making India a developed nation, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. “We need to come together to achieve Modi ji’s dream of a developed India. The whole world is watching us,” a panelist remarked.
Acknowledging India’s status as the fifth-largest economy, speakers called for balancing modern advancements with the preservation of cultural roots. The event concluded with a unified commitment to the transformation of India’s higher education landscape through collaboration and innovation.
