NBA Chairman Prof. Sahasrabudhe Highlights AI’s Transformative Role in Education at EPSI Event

New Delhi, December 17, 2024: A round table discussion on the “Role of the Private Sector in Transforming Higher Education in India” and a felicitation program for educational entrepreneurs elected as Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies was held in New Delhi on 16th Dec. Organized by the Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI), the event brought together prominent academicians, policymakers, and education stakeholders to discuss key initiatives driving India’s higher education transformation.

Prof. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, NBA, in his remarks, underlined the transformative potential of AI across various fields. Speaking to Ten News, he said, “AI has significant applications in education, enabling personalized and self-learning, and extends to other domains like agriculture, healthcare, and smart cities. For instance, AI is being used to optimize crop selection and fertilizer use (IIT Ropar), improve healthcare systems (IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi), and develop sustainable urban solutions (IIT Kanpur).” He further advocated for introducing AI education at the school level, stating, “It is essential to teach AI early to help students understand its applications and boundaries. While AI is reshaping industries, it cannot replace human intelligence. We need a balanced collaboration between AI and human capabilities to maximize societal benefits.”

The event also emphasized the importance of NEP 2020 in advancing India’s global education standing and achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation. Panelists reiterated the need to balance modern advancements with the preservation of cultural roots, calling for unified efforts to drive innovation and collaboration in education.

Concluding the session, the participants committed to transforming India’s higher education landscape, ensuring it aligns with global standards while remaining rooted in cultural values.
