Galgotias University Hosts Advanced Agriculture Workshop on National Farmers’ Day at SD Kanya Inter College

Greater Noida, 23 December 2024: On the occasion of National Farmers’ Day, Galgotias University’s School of Agriculture, in collaboration with SD Kanya Inter College, Bilaspur, conducted a workshop aimed at empowering rural youth with knowledge of sustainable and modern agricultural techniques. The event provided students with hands-on learning experiences in innovative practices such as beekeeping, vermicomposting, and vertical gardening.

Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 13: Climate Action), the workshop focused on educating participants about environmentally friendly practices that contribute to food security and environmental conservation. The session was well-received by both students and young agriculture enthusiasts, who gained valuable insights into the future of sustainable farming.

Dr. Ravindra Kumar, Assistant Professor, delivered an insightful session on beekeeping, discussing its environmental and economic benefits. Dr. Kamalkant Yadav, Assistant Professor, presented practical methods for converting organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, promoting sustainable waste management. Dr. Hemlata, Assistant Professor, showcased vertical gardening techniques, emphasizing innovative farming practices in limited spaces. Students from SD Kanya Inter College presented commendable projects on Integrated Farming Systems.

Mamta Sharma, Principal of SD Kanya Inter College, expressed gratitude to Galgotias University, highlighting the practical knowledge imparted to students and the positive impact on their career choices in agriculture. Yash Kumar, College President, commended the university for its role in blending education with agriculture, further enhancing the youth’s skills in modern farming techniques. Mrs. Pratiksha Sharma, Vice-Principal, emphasized the significance of such workshops in fostering innovation and curiosity among students, with hopes for more initiatives in the future.
