Mob blocks Yamuna e-way after accidents claim 4 lives

MATHURA: Four persons, including a child, died in four separate road accidents on the Yamuna Expressway on Saturday. Police had to resort to lathicharge to quell a mob that blocked the expressway after a 41-year-old Jagveer, one of the four victims, died on the spot after being hit by a car at the toll plaza of Yamuna Expressway.

“A mob blocked the road and started brick bating. Police had to use mild force to disperse them. An FIR has been filed against them,” said SSP Manjil Saini. They lifted the blockade only after being told by the SSP that the state government had announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased.
