DMK Re-Nominates Senior Advocate P. Wilson for Rajya Sabha Seat
Chennai, May 28: Senior advocate and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader P. Wilson has been re-nominated for elections to the Rajya Sabha.
The DMK, which currently holds a majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, named P. Wilson, R. Girirajan, and K. Kanimozhi Somu as its candidates for the three Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in June. Notably, the party has allotted the fourth seat to ally and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan, a move that underscores its continued efforts to strengthen political alliances.
P. Wilson, a prominent legal voice and a former Additional Solicitor General of India, was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2019. Over the past term, he has actively participated in legal and constitutional debates, raising key issues related to judiciary reforms and federalism.
With the DMK and its allies holding sufficient numbers in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, the re-election of Wilson and the victory of the party’s other nominees are virtually assured.
Party President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin confirmed the nominations on Tuesday, saying the selections reflect the party’s commitment to legal expertise, social justice, and inclusive politics.
