New Delhi News (10/08/2025): The India International Handwoven Expo 2025, organised by the Handloom Export Promotion Council under the Ministry of Textiles, concluded on a grand note at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Held from 7–9 August to mark National Handloom Day, the three-day B2B event brought together over 200 exhibitors and 100 overseas buyers, making it one of the largest platforms to showcase India’s rich handwoven heritage to the world. The exhibition featured a diverse range of products including sarees, fabrics, garments, dress materials, home textiles, floor coverings, and carpets, all under one roof, drawing buyers from across the globe.

The highlight of the event was the National Handloom Day Awards Ceremony, which honoured leading exporters for their exceptional contributions to the sector.

Ramesh Verma, representing Diamond Exports, received the Gold Medal for Fast Growing Export. Elated by the recognition, he said, “It is a matter of great happiness for me. This award motivates me to work even harder so that next time I can achieve an even bigger award.”

From Panipat, Adish Kumar Jain, whose enterprise deals in cushions, durries, carpets, and other handloom items, dedicated his award to his family and hardworking team. “The Government of India and its officials have been extremely supportive and motivating. This award means we must continue our efforts with greater dedication,” he said.

Ashwini Kinger from Bengaluru, an expert in high-value fabric exports, dedicated his award to his daughter, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, customers, and employees. “India is known worldwide for its culture and heritage. The handloom industry is a living showcase of our art and craftsmanship, and it is encouraging to see ministers and senior officials standing with us on National Handloom Day,” he remarked.

Sushma, a veteran in the handloom sector since 1979, expressed heartfelt gratitude while dedicating her award to her father, who began the family’s textile journey. “This recognition from the council brings great happiness and is a testament to our long-standing commitment to this traditional business,” she said.

Similarly, Krishna Rewari from Panipat, who started in yarn trading before venturing into exports a few years ago, was honoured with the Highest Export Increase Award. He credited the Ministry of Textiles for launching initiatives that inspire exporters. “The policies announced by Minister Pabitra Margherita and the ministry’s support give us confidence to expand further. It shows that our efforts are backed by strong government encouragement,” he added.

Throughout the event, ministers and senior officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening the handloom sector, promoting sustainability, and boosting India’s global presence. As foreign buyers admired the craftsmanship and quality of Indian products, the expo reinforced the message that India’s handloom industry is not just preserving cultural heritage but also powering economic growth and strengthening the country’s position in the global market.

This year’s expo and awards stood as a proud testament to India’s weaving traditions, proving once again that handlooms are not only threads of fabric but also threads of history, culture, and progress.
