GHAZIABAD News (22/10/2025): The Indian higher education fraternity is mourning the untimely demise of Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Singh, a distinguished academic leader and reformist known for his innovation, vision, and unwavering dedication to the cause of education. He passed away on October 19, 2025, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, following a massive heart attack.

Dr. Vikas Singh, who had been battling cancer for several years, had courageously defeated the disease twice before. Despite undergoing over 100 chemotherapy sessions and enduring 14-hour-long surgeries, he never allowed illness to deter his passion for education. However, a sudden cardiac arrest claimed the life of this resilient educator who had inspired countless students and colleagues across India.

A Titan of Indian Higher Education

Dr. Vikas Singh’s passing marks an irreparable loss not only to his family but to the entire academic community. Known for his unmatched energy, discipline, and leadership, he belonged to a rare class of educationists who could blend scholarship with innovation and humanity with vision.

His son, Uddhav Vikas Singh, while speaking to Ten News Network, shared that his father was among India’s top five youngest Chancellors, having achieved the prestigious position at an exceptionally early age. He fought cancer twice and never gave up. Even after more than a hundred chemotherapy sessions, he continued working with the same zeal. The doctors had recently declared his cancer almost gone, but destiny had other plans, he said emotionally.

According to family sources, Dr. Vikas Singh remained active and positive until his final moments. On the evening of October 19, he was watching a cricket match when he suddenly felt uneasy. Within minutes, he suffered multiple cardiac arrests and passed away before medical aid could revive him.

Even as his body grew frail—his weight dropping from 80 kilograms to just 33 kilograms—his spirit remained unbroken. He continued mentoring, teaching, and inspiring, proving that determination can triumph over the harshest adversities.

A Distinguished Academic Career

In a career spanning decades, Dr. Singh served in several eminent positions across India’s leading universities and institutions. He was the Founding Vice Chancellor of Geeta University, Panipat, and previously held pivotal roles such as:

Vice Chancellor, ITM University, Naya Raipur

Executive Director, ITS – The Education Group, Ghaziabad

Academic Director, Amity University

Campus Director, Chandigarh Group of Colleges

Director General, Trident Group of Institutions

A noted expert on India’s National Education Policy (NEP), Dr. Singh played a crucial role in institutional reforms and curriculum innovation. Under his leadership, ITS Engineering College earned the ARIIA 2020 “Band A” ranking, placing it among the top 25 institutions in the country for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Author, Thinker, and Global Voice

Dr. Singh was also an accomplished author and thought leader. His acclaimed book, “Paper to Screen – The Future of Education,” received international recognition and was translated into Persian by the University of Mazandaran, Iran. His writings explored the evolving landscape of education in the digital era, and he represented India at numerous global academic conferences.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Singh received several national and international honors, including:

A Legacy That Will Endure

Remembering his father, Uddhav Singh reflected, If he had been granted a few more years, I’m certain he would have been appointed to a position like Governor or Education Minister. His life and struggle will forever remain our family’s inspiration.

The havan will take place at 8 a.m. at his residence (Third A-11/14, Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad), followed by community lunch at 12 noon and the condolence gathering at 3 p.m.
