Delhi L-G launches 5th Aarambh library in Vikaspuri, fountain in Dwarka

New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) Advancing the vision of strengthening learning infrastructure, Delhi L-G V.K. Saxena on Thursday inaugurated the fifth Aarambh library in Vikaspuri and unveiled column fountains at key road junctions in Dwarka Sub-City.

The facility at Vikaspuri is the fifth in the series under the Aarambh initiative, which offers a 24×7 library accommodating over 180 students daily in three eight-hour shifts, said a DDA official.

Developed by the Delhi Development Authority, the library aims to provide students, particularly in West Delhi, with a dedicated and affordable environment for focused learning.

It is equipped with modern facilities, including seamless Wi-Fi, modular study tables, secure lockers, CCTV surveillance, and a dedicated cafeteria.

The LG said that Delhi is an education hub of the country, and students from all over India come here to shape their future. “The Aarambh initiative aims to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to students at affordable prices.”

“It is a noble initiative, and I congratulate DDA for this. It is a DDA’s service to the students with limited resources, and we will continue to take measures for the overall development of youth as they are the future of our country,” he added.

Speaking at the fountain’s inauguration in Dwarka, the L-G said, “We are committed towards providing holistic development of the national capital to address Delhi’s growing urban requirements and planning aligned to the needs of the people of Delhi.”

The newly-inaugurated column fountains combine contemporary design with environmental sensitivity. Rising 2.8 metres high and set within a 4.5-metre-diameter sandstone tub crafted from Teak and Rainbow sandstone, the fountains feature sleek column structures that serve as striking visual landmarks during the day, the DDA said.

As night falls, dynamic LED illumination transforms the installations into vibrant focal points, enhancing the overall streetscape. Complemented by thoughtfully developed floral landscaping, the water features not only elevate the aesthetic appeal, the DDA said.
