Criminals who fired at IAF officer’s house in MP, threatened police on social media, held in Mumbai
Mumbai, June 13 (IANS) Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested two criminals from the Kala Ghoda area for allegedly opening fire at the residence of an Indian Air Force officer in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district and later threatening the state police through a live social media broadcast.
The accused had allegedly fired multiple rounds outside the officer’s residence before fleeing. They later posted a video on social media in which they openly challenged the Madhya Pradesh Police, reportedly declaring that their “next bullet” would be aimed at the police force.
Following the incident, the duo attempted to evade arrest by switching off their mobile phones. After being apprehended in Mumbai, they were handed over to the Madhya Pradesh Police.
According to officials, the incident took place on June 5 within the jurisdiction of the Kolgawan police station in Satna. The accused allegedly fired five rounds from a country-made pistol outside the IAF officer’s house and fled the scene immediately afterwards.
The matter escalated when the two allegedly uploaded a video on social media while absconding. Police said the accused appeared eager to project themselves as notorious criminals through social media and online reels. In the video, they allegedly mocked the Madhya Pradesh Police and threatened further violence. Soon after posting the video, they switched off their phones to avoid being traced.
During the investigation, technical surveillance provided a crucial lead indicating that the accused had fled to Mumbai by car. Intelligence inputs suggested they could be hiding in the Azad Maidan, M.R.A. Marg, or Cuffe Parade areas of South Mumbai.
A special team from the Satna police subsequently reached Mumbai and coordinated with the Cuffe Parade police. The local cyber team immediately joined the operation. After receiving details about the suspects, including their physical descriptions and the registration number of the vehicle, the Cuffe Parade Police activated their network of informants.
Police soon received specific information that the accused were moving around the Kala Ghoda area in the same vehicle. Acting swiftly, officers cordoned off the area and launched an operation to intercept them.
The suspects were reportedly taken into custody before they could react or attempt to use any weapons. Their vehicle was also seized.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Amarsingh Ashoksingh Parihar, 25, and Abhignan Sankatmochan Tripathi, 23, both residents of Madhya Pradesh.
A case had already been registered against them at the Kolgawan police station under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 296(A), 109(1), 324(4), 351(3) and 3(5), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
After completing legal formalities, the Mumbai Police handed over both accused to the Satna police. Following the grant of transit remand by a court on Friday, the Madhya Pradesh Police team left for Satna with the accused for further investigation.
