AICTE Academy Sponsored FDP on “Emerging IoT Technologies for Sustainable Smart Cities” Inaugurated at Galgotias College

Greater Noida, July 27, 2026: Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Greater Noida, inaugurated the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Sponsored Faculty Development Program (FDP) on the theme “Emerging IoT Technologies for Sustainable Smart Cities.” The six-day program witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and academicians representing engineering institutions from across the country.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the Saraswati Vandana and ceremonial lamp lighting. The Chief Guest, Narendra Kumar Sisodia, Additional General Manager, NTPC Limited, appreciated AICTE and Galgotias College for organizing the Faculty Development Program on a highly relevant and contemporary theme.

In his address, Narendra Kumar Sisodia emphasized that intelligent communication networks, IoT-enabled surveillance systems, and advanced digital infrastructure are essential for building safe, secure, and sustainable smart cities. He highlighted the growing importance of networking technologies and CCTV-based monitoring systems in enhancing public safety, traffic management, urban governance, and critical infrastructure. He encouraged the participants to actively engage in research and adopt emerging technologies to address the evolving challenges of smart city development.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Rahul Johri, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, discussed the importance of security and scalability in low-power IoT systems. He explained the challenges associated with designing secure IoT networks and emphasized the need for lightweight communication protocols capable of supporting large-scale IoT deployments. He also demonstrated MQTT-based data transfer using Java, providing participants with practical exposure to secure and scalable IoT communication.

On the occasion, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO, Galgotias Educational Institutions, said, “Emerging IoT technologies are transforming the future of smart cities and connected ecosystems. The program aims to strengthen the research capabilities and technical expertise of faculty members while promoting innovation and collaboration between academia and industry.
