National News (08/10/2026): Bharti Airtel has increased the prices of its postpaid plans by ₹50, with the revised tariffs coming into effect from October 8, 2026. The price revision represents an increase of around 11% for the telecom operator’s entry-level postpaid plan.
Alongside the tariff hike, Airtel has introduced a complimentary international roaming benefit for its postpaid customers. Under the new offering, eligible postpaid users will receive one free international roaming trip every year, valid for up to five days.
The complimentary roaming pack includes 5GB of mobile data, 60 minutes of outgoing and incoming calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS. Customers can activate the benefit at any point during their international trip, according to the company.
The benefit will also extend to customers subscribed to Airtel’s family postpaid plans. Each SIM included under an eligible family plan will be entitled to one complimentary international roaming trip per year. Airtel has valued the benefit at approximately ₹2,000 per connection.
Following the latest revision, Airtel’s individual postpaid plan will now start at ₹499 per month. The company’s ₹749 family plan provides services for two connections, while the ₹1,049 plan covers three connections. The ₹1,249 and ₹1,449 plans support four connections, whereas the ₹1,799 plan can accommodate up to five connections.
Despite the price increase, Airtel’s postpaid plans will continue to offer benefits such as unlimited data and calling, Airtel’s Fast Lane 5G experience and spam protection. Depending on the plan selected, customers can also receive access to additional digital and entertainment services, including Xstream Play Premium, Google One, Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Apple Music, Apple iCloud+ and Netflix.
The latest move comes at a time when telecom operators are increasingly competing to attract high-value postpaid customers by offering additional international roaming and digital service benefits. Vodafone Idea also provides complimentary international roaming benefits on select postpaid plans.
For customers who travel abroad at least once a year, Airtel’s new roaming benefit could help offset the additional annual cost resulting from the ₹50 monthly price increase. The revised tariff translates into an additional expense of ₹600 per year for customers on the affected plans.
However, customers who rarely or never travel internationally may not derive significant value from the new roaming benefit and could instead face a higher recurring monthly expense following the tariff revision.
With the latest changes, Airtel appears to be positioning its postpaid offerings around a combination of premium connectivity, international travel benefits and bundled digital services, while maintaining its focus on 5G and unlimited data offerings.
