Murder case of a Chandni Chowk Businessmancracked by the Central District Police

With the arrest of one Devender @ Sanjay (34 years) r/o Geeta Colony, Delhi, the team of Central District has solved the murder case of a Chandni Chowk Businessman whose dead body was found in slip road near Shanti Van (PS Daryaganj Area) in the intervening night of 29/30 Dec 2014. The weapon of offence and the car used for offence have been recovered.

INCIDENT

At around 1:00 AM on December 30, 2014, a Police Patrolling team found a person lying in a pool of blood on the side of Service Road of Mahatma Gandhi Marg near Shanti Van. The same was immediately reported to the Police Station (Darya Ganj) and the person was immediately taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. The person was identified as one Naresh Kumar Bansal (73 years), a property businessman of Chandni Chowk, Delhi.  Subsequently, case FIR no. 799/14 u/s 302 IPC was lodged at PS Daryaganj and the investigation was taken up.

INVESTIGATION

As the identity was revealed, the relatives of the victim were immediately informed and information was collected vis any suspects.  Dedicated teams led by Insp. Vivekanand Jha (SHO/Daryanganj), Insp. Anil Sharma (SHO/Chandni Mahal), Insp. Amrit Raj, Insp. Ramesh Lamba (SHO/Prasad Nagar), Insp. Jarnail Singh (SHO/HauzQazi), Insp. Pradeep Paliwal (SHO/ Jama Masjid), SI M.K. Manoj and SI Pramod Anand (Special Staff) supervised by Sh. Manoj Kumar Meena ACP/Daryaganj, Sh. Dataram ACP/Kamla Market and Sh. Sukant Bhallabh ACP/Special Staff were formed and an intensive probe was launched under the overall command and control of Sh. Sagar Singh Kalsi, Addl. DCP/ Central District.

Through local intelligence gathered by the teams and scientific investigation clues, multiple locations in Faridabad, Geeta Colony and Chandni Chowk were comprehensively combed. The sustained efforts of the field teams and the support teams finally led the Police to successfully apprehend one Devender @ Sanjay.

INTERROGATION

During interrogation, it was revealed that Naresh had lent money to the Devender which he was not able to pay back. Frustrated by the persuasion of the deceased for the same, he hatched a plan to kill Naresh about a month back with one co-accused. On 30th December 2014 when the deceased visited Bhankhandi Temple in Chandni Chowk, on the pretext of paying back the money, accused asked the deceased to accompany him in his WagonR car. They drove the car to a secluded place in Kashmere Gate area and gruesomely murdered him with the help of a clutch wire and a sharp cutter used as weapons. The body was then dumped near Shanti Van on the service road. Devender disposed off the weapons used, his clothes, the blood laden seat covers of his car, his shoes etc at different places to avoid any suspicion.

The teams have recovered the car in which the offence took place and also some other articles. Further search is on for the recovery of the remaining evidences and co-accused.

PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED

Devender @ Sanjay (34 years) is a resident of Geeta Colony. He is a matriculate and is working in a family transport business in Chandni Chowk. He has no previous involvement.
