Artist Swati Gupta’s first set of solo works are on display at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from the 18th to the 25th of April 2015. ‘Vritti’ is a condensation of her internal whirlpool of thoughts, represented through visual narratives in the form of paintings and photographs.
The artist explores the infinite realm of thoughts that seamlessly transcend into the physical world, and manifest themselves in varied forms around us. Her works are based on the premise of human tendencies to not take things for their face value, but as the surreal powers of the heart and mind dictate.
The art on display is potent with keen observations, and imbued with social, emotional and geographical rajectories that influence our sub-conscious. The extensive body of works, including paintings and creative photographs, are largely rendered in acrylic, watercolor, ink and mixed media. The subject determines the artist’s choice of medium.
The artist draws inspiration from her travels around the world, and explores the realm of her thoughts in her works using innovative canvases such as tracing paper, leather, cotton dupattas, and gessoed boards. The fluidic, layered images depict an astute sense of motion, and are often cathartic in nature, as they make the viewer traverse hrough his own mental and emotional labyrinth.

With harmonious use of color and medium, the narratives intend to render myriad impressions –visual, subliminal, physical and associative, that impinge on the consciousness of an individual and form a part of his awareness.
We look forward to your coverage of the exhibition. For more information write to us at: hello@swatigupta.net or call +91-9810903835.
