DELHI PRADESH CONGRESS WORKERS PROTEST AGAINST AAM ADMI PARTY GOVERNMENT
The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of its president Shri Ajay Maken, held a massive demonstration against the Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi today. Thousands of Congress workers, who came from all parts of Delhi, demonstrated seeking the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Law Minister Jitender Tomar, as Tomar had acquired his fake law degree allegedly through fraudulent means. The demonstrators also burned the effigy of Kejriwal.
The Congress workers, shouting slogans against the AAP Government and Kejriwal, such as “Farji degree, farjiarkar, nahi chalegi, nahi chalegi; abto ye spasht hai, Aap party bhrasht hai; Aap party ke farji vakil, istifa do, istifa do; farji mantriyon ke sardar Kejriwal, istifa do, istifa do, etc” assembled in front of the DPCC office, Rajiv
Bhawan, at 11 a.m before marching towards the Players’ Building, Delhi Secretariat, at ITO, led by Shri Ajay Maken. The police erected barricades to stop the demonstrators from proceeding towards the Players’ Building, but the Congress workers broke the barricades to rush forward. Police then used water cannons on the Congress workers to disperse them, but the determined Congress workers held their ground, and strongly resisted the police attempt to stop them, and registered their protest against the AAP Government in Delhi, as Kejriwal was trying to shield his Minister Jitender Tomar, despite evidence emerging that his law degree was fake. The police then detained 3152
Congress workers who were later let off.
Addressing the demonstrators, DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken said Tomar should be sacked from the Ministry forthwith for possessing a fake law degree, as his continuation in the Ministry will be a travesty of justice. Shri Maken said the Aam Aadmi Party has betrayed the people of Delhi, as Arvind Kejriwal’s Government was mired in controversies, and Jitender Tomar’s fake law degree was the latest of the many controversies Kejriwal was mired in. Instead of sacking him from the Ministry, and asking him to quit his Assemly seat, Kejriwal was trying to protect Tomar. Shri Ajay Maken said Shri Kejriwal was applying double standards as on the one hand, he seemed to befighting against corruption, but on the other hand, he was fostering the corrupt in his Government, with the plea that the court will take a decision on Tomar’s
Shri Ajay Maken said the AAP, which came to power in Delhi on the basis of dharnas and agitations, has now been caught in an arrogant attitude, which was leading AAP to its doom. He said Kejriwal was now running away from the people of Delhi, unable to face when bitter truths confront him. Shri Maken recalled that ten days ago, Shri Kejriwal had said at a meeting that even if he could fulfil 40 per cent of the election promises in five years, it would be sufficient enough, which was a betrayal on the people of Delhi, who had voted him to power, believing his words during the election campaign. Shri Maken warned that if people could elect Shri Kejriwal to power, they
could also bring him down with a thud. He said Kejriwal himself has now become a victim of arrogance, and he was now unable to separate truth from falsehood.Shri Maken said Shri Kejriwal could not get away by mouthing mere apologies, as he had fooled the people of Delhi many times over with such apology gimmicks. He said the people of Delhi would not settle for nothing short of the sacking of Jitender Tomar from the Ministry. Shri Maken warned that if Kejriwal did not remove his Law Minister from the Ministry immediately, the Congress Party would intensity its
agitations by spreading its protests to every nook and corner of the Capital, till the Law Minister with a fake degree was sacked from the Ministry.
Besides Shri Ajay Maken, prominent others who participated in the demonstration were ex-MP Shri Ramesh Kumar, ex-Speaker of Delhi Dr Yoganand Shastri, chief spokesperson Smt. Shramishta Mukherjee, ex-MLA Shri Mateen Ahmed, ex-Ministers Dr Kiran Walia, Ramakanth Goswami and Dr Narendra Nath, Amrish Gautam, Devendra Yadav, Anil Bhardwaj, Bisham Sharma, Kunwar Karan Singh, Prahlad Singh Sahni, Anil Chuadhary, Jaswant Rana, Opposition leaders in the MCD Mukesh Goel, Farhad Suri and Varyam Kaur, Brahm Yadav, Chattar Singh, Suresh Malik, ex-Mayor Satbir Singh, chief organizer of Seva Dal Dineshwar Tyagi, Mahil Congress president Onika Mehrotra and a large number of Municipal Councillors.
