A Black Day for cricket in Rajasthan
Jaipur, 10th March 2015: If one wishes to witness how a judicial order of a High Court can be given a complete go by so much so to defeat the very essence and purpose of a High Court order one needs to just watch the way the Vote of No confidence motion against the four office bearers of Rajasthan Cricket association (RCA) yesterday in Jaipur.
Under the order dated 12-2-15 of the Learned Single bench of Rajasthan High Court the chairman of Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) was mandated to conduct the motion of no confidence, if moved, against the four office bearers of the RCA namely Lalit Modi, President, Mehmood Abdi, Deputy President, Somender Tiwari, Hony Secretary and Pawan Goel, hony treasurer. The order was passed in the writ petition filed by 11 members of RCA challenging
the so called no confidence motion brought about by Amin Pathan & Co on 11-10-2014 which was found to be illegal by the high court.
As per the press release of the RSSC the special general meeting of the RCA general body was to be held at the RCA cricket academy in SMS stadium, Jaipur at 11 am yesterday. Despite, repeated reminders to the Police Commissioner and the Chairman sports council about the building up of intimidatory tactics by Amin Pathan and his group against the members who opposed the no confidence motion moved by him, the authorities concerned did little to take appropriate steps which emboldened Amin Pathan and his Co to have their way by preventing members supporting Lalit Modi with  brutal force.
0n 7th March an appeal was posted on the timeline of Amin Pathan wherein people were exhorted to reach SMS stadium at 9am on 9th March as Amin Bhai is contesting. This fact about apprehension of violence on the day of vote was timely and duly communicated to both Chairman RSSC and the Police Commissioner, Jaipur.Yesterday at around 10:50 am when the members opposing the no confidence motion reached between Ram Bagh circle and the Ambedkar circle in Jaipur their vehicles were attached by a mob of two hundred people armed with fire arms, swords, choppers and iron rods. Vehicles were stopped and the hoodlums forcefully entered the two mini buses and started beating the
occupants. Over 15 people were injured in this attack are referred to hospitals in Jaipur. The mob also charged the vehicles with heavy stone pelting which also injured many members of RCA. The mob also threatened to set the vehicles on fire.
The purpose of this premeditated attack was to intimidate and prevent the members opposing the no confidence motion from attending the meeting. Despite the attack when the members got collected and reached the meeting venue around 11: 05-15 they were prevented from entering the meeting hall by the staff of RSSC and the police personnel saying that they were late. Though the timing of the meeting was fixed between 11am to 2pm. In the meanwhile series of text messages and emails from handsets were sent to Chairman RSSC apprising him the situation. Nevertheless, he preferred to conduct the no confidence motion only in the presence of the members who moved the motion and with no one allowed to oppose it as  the members who wished to oppose the motion were not allowed to attend the meeting and cast their vote.
As per the High Court order minimum 25 votes were required to be caste in favour of the motion which comes to ¾ of the total 33 RCA members. Since Amin Pathan could not muster the number anyway near this figure of 25 even in his earlier attempt on 11-10-14 which was declared illegal by the High Court, he sought to forceful prevention of 12 members opposing the motion. By doing so  he sought to bring down the strength of the house to just 18 present
wherein he had his motion passed. They were all the proposers of the motion.
This is the mockery not only of the High Court order but a black day for every democratic institution. Somewhat like the lone student in a class coming first in the exam.Against this blatant use of brutal force in the broad day light by hoodlums and depriving the legitimate members of their right to vote by the Chairman of the RSSC We have moved the Rajasthan High Court and the matter is coming up today.
