THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HOLD DEMONSTRATION UNDER SEARING HEAT AT NOOR MASJID AGAINST SEVERE POWER AND WATER SHORTAGE, “PAANI MAFF, BIJLI HALF”BLAMES KEJRIWAL GOVERNMENT FOR NOT TAKING ANY MEASURES TO ENSURE UNINTERRUPTED SUPPLY OF POWER AND WATER DURING THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMZAN.
NEW DELHI, June 19—Thousands of people, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Ajay Maken, today held a demonstration at 25-Foota Road, Noor Masjid, Old Mustafabad, North East Delhi to protest against the severe power and water shortage in the holy month of Ramzan, which has put the faithfuls to great difficulty. The demonstration was organized under the aegis of DPCC Minority Department chairman Ali Mehdi.
Shri Ajay Maken, addressing the demonstrators who assembled in large numbers despite the severe heat and Ramzan fast, said the Aam Aadmi Party Government’s hollow promise of “Paani Maff, Bijli Half” (free water and power at half rate) has turned out to be a totally hollow promise, as the Kejriwal Government has not been able to fulfil even a single promise made to the people, including free water and power at half the tariff. Shri Maken said it was unpardonable on the part of the Kejriwal Government that people are made to suffer severe power and water shortage during the holy Ramzan month when the Muslim brethren observe fast.
Shri Maken said the condition is so bad that there is no power and water when the faithfuls start the Ramzan fast in the morning, nor when they break their fast in the evening. And to confound their woes, people have to go without power during the night, making their life miserable.
Shri Maken said during the Congress regime, Ministers and officials used to hold meetings to chalkout plans to ensure regular power and water supply during the Ramzan month so that the faithfuls, who keep Roza, do not face any problems. He said the Kejriwal Government has not taken any such preparation for Ramzan as they were busy clashing with the Central Government, the Lt. Governor and among themselves, to address the pressing problems of the people. As a result, the faithfuls are being put to unbearable hardship during the Ramzan month.
Prominent others who participated in the demonstration were ex-MLA from Mustafabad Shri Hassan Ahmed, Municipal Councillors Taj Mohammed, Mohd Maroof, Block presidents Azim, Salim, Vishal and Sushila Devi.
