AAP crusade results in Eknath Khadse resignation
4 June 2016

The Aam Aadmi Party has been demanding Eknath Khadse removal from office since October 2015. When AAP uncovered that Eknath Khadse was protecting those accused in Police Inspector Ashok Sadre’s suicide note, we were shocked by brazen corruption, his alleged empire in Jalgaon, his intimidation tactics and abusive language. However, the BJP government did not act against Khadse then. Khadse has brazenly threatened all who spoke against him and has done his best to corner the BJP by showing his supposed vote bank strength.

We are relieved that finally, after his corruption as well as his anti national activities were totally exposed in these past few weeks, the Bhartiya Janta Party has been forced to remove him from office.

Khadse has been accused of corruption, nepotism, subverting the system and for having had telephonic conversations with India’s most wanted terrorist and criminal Dawood Ibrahim. Such a person cannot be allowed to remain in office in any government. Yet the BJP balked at the demands for his removal as it would mean that they are admitting that their senior most leader in Maharashtra was indeed guilty, but faced with irrefutable proof and mounting pressure, they finally conceded and removed him It is a shame that the CM could not take a decision on his own and had to wait for high command to act.

AAP feels this is just the first step. We demand that a High Court supervised probe be initiated on all the charges made against Eknath Khadse, from the Sadre suicide case to the MIDC scam. AAP believes that if the probe is not supervised by the Court, there is all likelihood that more clean chits will follow.

Dawood Call Logs
We would also like to point out that if a common citizen is found to be allegedly ‎linked to a terrorist, he or she would be immediately arrested, interrogated, and all his or her phones, mails, bank accounts would be scanned. We demand that the same kind of investigation be conducted on Ekanth Khadse. We demand that BJP prove it’s nationalist credentials – the Home Minister should file a case of sedition against Eknath Khadse, arrest him and start a thorough custodial interrogation. Justice will be served only when Eknath Khadse is thoroughly probed and punished for his offences.

PI Sadre Suicide & Illegal Sand Mining

Police Inspector Ashok Sadre, posted in Jalgaon the home District of Eknath Khadse, committed suicide on 16 October 2015. In his suicide note he directly blamed the Superintendent of Police Supekar, Police Inspector Raithe and sand mining contractor Sagar Chaudhari . He claimed because he had stopped the illegal sand mining operations of Sagar Chadhari, the three conspired to embroil him in a false case of extortion and got him suspended. All the three are very close to Eknath Khadse. When AAP demanded that the three be arrested and Khadse’s role be investigated, he first denied knowing Sagar Chaudhari. When AAP presented irrefutable photographic proof on how Sagar Chaudhari was like a family member for him, he accepted that he knew him but denied all other charges. A farcical inquiry was IG Singh, who himself had suspended PI Sadre, and before the police arrived at their conclusions, a BJP member and Khadse aide, Deepak Phalak released the final report on a whatsapp chat. It was clear that the report was made by Khadse himself and there was no hope for justice within the system. AAP then appealed to the CM for a CID inquiry and protection of Sadre’s family. However, Khadse brought his might to bear on the system, Khadse’s family was intimidated into silence, and the inquiry did not go anywhere. Before PI Sadre, a builder committed suicide in Thane, and all those government officials and others who were named in his suicide note were arrested. It is so tragic that the Police Inspector did not get similar justice. We will continue to fight for Justice for Sadre.

We thank the media and all activists and whistle-blowers who joined this fight against corruption.
