Bengaluru, 09th July 2023: Kannada organisations and the Aam Admi Party (AAP) have organised a protest next week in response to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s recent state budget announcement.

Ashok Chandaragi, the convener of Kannada Organisations’ Steering Committee, demanded, among other things, a new district administration complex on the deputy commissioner office campus, the relocation of a few major ministries to Suvarna Vidhan Soudha, the district’s legislative assembly building and funds for Kittur Development Authority.

Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, who founded the Kittur Development Authority, he claimed, did not allocate funding, and Siddaramaiah is doing the same. The parties are enraged by the neglect shown to North Karnataka, notably Belagavi.

With a population of roughly 700,000 and a floating population of around 400,000, Belagavi is an economic powerhouse. Its advantageous location draws people from bordering Maharashtra and Goa, transforming it into a commercial hub. According to Chandaragi, Siddaramaiah has not addressed the long-pending demand for the construction of a ring road and two flyovers.
