New Delhi, 4 November 2022: Recently, the BJP charged the Delhi government with enrolling “bogus” construction employees and diverting funds intended for them to the AAP’s political activities.

While in a press conference MP Manoj Tiwari and BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra had accused Arvind Kejriwal of having “polluted intent” and “integrity”.

Today, Patra said that with regard to the construction workers, it was the largest corruption case in India. Registration through proxies was subject to widespread corruption by the three NGOs working for construction employees.

The Delhi government, according to the BJP leader, distributed $3,000 billion to “false” construction employees. Patra gave more information about the figures, adding that between 2006 and 2021, the Delhi government’s labour department recorded more than 13 lakh workers in the building industry. These were registered in excess of 9 lakh times between 2018 and 2021.

Investigations, according to Patra, have found 2 lakh fraudulent registrations in Delhi. He said that 4370 of the 65,000 workers had the same permanent address, while 15,700 of them shared the same residential address in Delhi.

But none of these employees who have the same transient or permanent address are related to one another, he claimed. Patra said that the Delhi administration had diverted funds intended for the benefit of construction workers and utilised them for projects associated with the AAP.
