New Delhi, 22nd June 2023: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has threatened to miss tomorrow’s crucial opposition meeting if the Congress does not support its campaign against a disputed federal government law aimed at reshaping Delhi’s administrative services.

The action threatens to undermine efforts by India’s fractured opposition to unite and strategize for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“The Congress must back us up on the Delhi ordinance. If it does not, we will boycott the opposition gathering and refrain from attending future opposition meetings,” AAP sources stated.

The ordinance in question, introduced last month by the BJP-led central government, seeks to seize control of Delhi’s bureaucracy. The ordinance in question, introduced last month by the BJP-led central government, seeks to seize control of Delhi’s bureaucracy.

The AAP has attacked the action, claiming it undermines a recent Supreme Court ruling handing the elected government control of services in Delhi, excluding police, public order, and land.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, expressed optimism that the Congress would clarify its position on the ordinance during the opposition conference on Friday. He has been contacting leaders of non-BJP parties in an attempt to marshal their opposition to the ordinance and prevent it from becoming law through the legislative process.

The Congress has been the most vocal opponent of the BJP in the campaign, which has gotten backing from a number of regional parties.
