New Delhi, 4 October 2022: The Aam Aadmi Party will reportedly burn garbage-made Ravan effigies in about 3,500 spots on Tuesday as part of a protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “failure” to keep New Delhi clean.

While Durgesh Pathak, MLA Rajinder Nagar stated that AAP will protest after burning the effigies at the appropriate locations and also called for municipal elections to be held “as soon as possible.”

Pathak said that it would merely be a “symbolic” act, despite the fact that open burning of garbage is prohibited and that such a protest would worsen air pollution.

“It’s too dirty in Delhi. No matter where you go, trash will be present. The BJP plans to build 16 additional rubbish hills in addition to the three that presently exist. Garbage in Delhi has come to represent the BJP’s ineffectiveness and failure,” said Pathak.

The party officials and supporters will stage rallies in addition to burning effigies to call for the earliest possible elections to the civic council.

He also urged people to participate in the demonstration by pledging to clean up Delhi and do rid of the three notorious garbage hills on the city’s edge if his party wins the civic elections.

Two days after the Centre’s annual cleanliness report ranked the formerly North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) in the bottom 10 of 45 cities across the nation, the AAP decided to stage a symbolic protest against the BJP. The NDMC has ranked 37th, the EDMC 34th, and the SDMC 28th in Swachh Survekshan 2022.
